LISA DUGGAN Founder

Lisa Duggan is a mother, graphic artist, writer, and the founder and publisher of The MotherHood Magazine and TheMotherhoodBlog. From 2006 until 2008, Lisa published The MotherHood as a quarterly print magazine based in Maplewood, New Jersey. The magazine employed parents from within the neighborhood, many of them professional artists, writers and editors. The MotherHood was distributed in New Jersey, New York, and Los Angeles, with a top circulation of 16,000 copies. In 2008 issues of The MotherHood were also sold at Barnes and Nobles bookstores. From 1996 to 2002, Lisa worked as the Production Manager of The National Law Journal and The New York Law Journal for American Lawyer Media. More recently, she was the Editor in Chief of Forum, the member newsletter for the national organization Mothers and More. Lisa’s writing can be found at TheMotherhoodBlog and Forbes.com, as well as Audible.com, where she reviews parenting memoirs. You may also read her very, very short stories on Twitter, as @motherhoodmag.

KRISTIN WALD Educational Advisor

Kristin Wald taught high school English (and the occasional Human Sexuality class) in a Brooklyn public school for twelve years.

She served as a dean of security for much of that time as well, which exposed her to challenges never addressed in graduate school.  For many years, Kristin also taught English as a Second Language to adults and non-traditional students through the ASHS program in Coney Island.

Using her years of teaching journalism to high school students, Kristin now writes for on-line publications and blogs to maintain a semblance of sanity. She can be found tweeting at the creatively conceived @kdwald.

DR. ANNE MARIE ALBANO Mental Health Advisor

Dr. Anne Marie Albano is associate professor of clinical psychology in psychiatry within the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and Director of the Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders. Dr. Albano received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Mississippi and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Phobia and Anxiety Disorders Clinic of the Center for Stress and Anxiety Disorders at SUNY-Albany.

Dr. Albano devotes her career to the study and treatment of anxiety and mood disorders in children, adolescents, and young adults. She is the president of the Society for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology of the American Psychological Association. When she’s not working Dr. Albano enjoys walking through Prospect Park with her husband. She misses her stepdaughters, nieces and nephews, who are scattered all around the country.

DONALD N. COTLER, M.D., FAAP Health and Wellness Advisor

Donald N. Cotler, M.D., FAAP has been a pediatrician in private practice for twenty-five years (and a parent for somewhat longer). He has a special interest in the public understanding of science. Dr.Cotler is a Clinical Assistant Professor at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School and is currently finishing a Master’s Degree in Education in the Science and the Public Program at SUNY Buffalo. He hopes to use his combination of experiences to develop and popularize ways for pediatricians to participate in increasing the science literacy and “cognitive wealth” of the community.

For the past 17 years John has combined his enthusiasm for new technologies with his keen eye for emerging trends to develop innovative businesses and marketing strategies and tactics. Self-described as, “Half-geek, on my mother’s side,” John has utilized his combined talents in technology and new business creation to develop successful digital media businesses for companies like Audible.com (now a subsidiary of Amazon.com), Advance Internet, NJ.com, BlogTalkRadio, NetCreations (now ReturnPath), MarketSource (now Youth360), and MaMaMedia, among others. John is the host and executive producer of On Digital Media, a podcast about the technology, creation, distribution, consumption and monetization of digital media and its effects on traditional media and marketing. When he’s not fiddling with his gadgets, John tries to fulfill his roles as a husband and as a father to his young son. He and his family live in a 100-year-old home in Maplewood, NJ with Lucy, their Cocker Spaniel. He can be found on Twitter as @gadgetboy.

ALLAN HOFFMAN Editorial Advisor

For the past fifteen years, Allan Hoffman has been the technology columnist for The Star-Ledger, New Jersey’s largest daily newspaper, where he writes about Internet culture and trends, the iPhone and digital photography. His work has appeared in Newsday, the New York Times, Wired.com, and many other magazines and newspapers. He is the author of Create Great iPhone Photos (No Starch Press, 2011), a book with tips and tricks for generating photographic effects, applying filters and manipulating your images—all right on your iPhone. With over twelve years experience in publishing, Kerrie has contributed to some of NYC’s biggest media companies, including Conde Nast, Hearst, Brant, and American Lawyer Media, in a variety of roles in design, production, and management. She is currently the Production Director at Rodale’s Prevention magazine and lives in Manhattan with her husband, Bernie.

DIANNE ROSKY, J.D. Editorial Advisor

Dianne Rosky is the founder and principal of Rosky Legal Education LLC, which provides training in legal writing, public speaking, and other professional communication skills.  She and her associates train lawyers and other professionals at major law firms, corporations, government agencies, and public-interest organizations. Dianne was previously a full-time faculty member in the Lawyering Program at New York University School of Law.  During her three years at NYU, she taught legal writing as well as negotiation, mediation, and other lawyering skills.  She was recently appointed as an adjunct professor in NYU’s LLM program.  Dianne practiced commercial litigation for several years at Sullivan & Cromwell and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.  She was selected by Sullivan & Cromwell as  the firm’s Pro Bono Fellow to litigate prisoners’ federal civil rights claims.  Dianne served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert W. Sweet of the Southern District of New York.  She is a 1994 graduate of Harvard Law School, where she was an Editor of the Harvard Law Review.

A lifelong devotee of words and language, Dianne worked before law school as an Editorial Assistant at Merriam-Webster, where she selected and defined new dictionary entries. She is responsible for the dictionary entries for cash cow and capoeira, among others. Dianne lives in Maplewood, NJ with her husband and two kids. Her family is slow to consider change, but after extensive research and consideration, they are preparing to take in a pet hermit crab.
